This WKBW newsroom was different than the several others that Picone Construction has performed. On this project, a design/build delivery system was in place. Since the designer was appointed by Picone Construction, it allowed for greater management and control over the extensive design process. This delivery system allowed for the owner's cost and design requirements to be met.

This week's edition of #PicsbyPicone feature work performed at the Jamestown Gateway Station. Picone Construction served as the general contractor on the job performing a complete renovation to the historic Jamestown building. 
The project consisted of historic renovations and restorations to provide intermodal and visitors' center and prepare the building for future use and connector trail. Since the existing facility was listed in the National Register and the New York State Register as a historic building, special procedures were required in the execution of the work. 

Picone construction has completed the interior office renovations and elevator replacement at O’Connell Electric Co. The interior fit out included work performed with concrete, masonry, metal framing, drywall, flooring, painting, plumbing, HVAC and electrical.

This week's edition of #PicsbyPicone featured several projects performed at Goya Foods. The work included an office expansion, loading dock renovation, and warehouse expansion. Work in the office included all trades including excavation and foundations to finish materials. Office area additions included a new reception and waiting area, several offices, restrooms, a conference room, a lunch room, storage areas and a quality control lab.
Work in Goya's distribution facility included the construction of a new 152,308 square foot facility along with 15 loading docks, storage, and distribution space with the entire exterior of the building made up of pre-cast concrete panels.
In 2011, Picone Construction was named as a finalist by Buffalo Business First for Best New Construction in 2011.

This week's edition of #PicsbyPicone showcase the work performed for Ellicott Development's 301 Ohio Street Apartments. Despite the building's name, it actually serves several other functions than just an apartment complex. The five story facility also features two restaurants and 10,000 square feet of commercial space.
Work performed on a project like this included concrete, masonry, metals, woods/plastics/composites, thermal/moisture protection, openings, finishes, specialties, equipment, furnishings, plumbing and earthwork.
This project also earned Picone a finalist position for Best New Construction by Buffalo Business First.

To celebrate 90 years in business, Picone Construction has launched a new series on social media called #PicsbyPicone! The new weekly series will feature a project completed by Picone over the course of the last 90 years.
​The first installment of the new series features the work performed at Whole Foods Markets in Amherst, NY.
Work included the building of the outer shell and interior fit out of the 50,000+ square foot space. Cover by several local news outlets, Picone performed several types of work including selective demolition, concrete, masonry, metals, woods/plastics, thermal protection, doors/windows, finishes, specialties, equipment, mechanical and electric work.
Work at the facility even named Picone Construction winner of Buffalo Business First's Brick by Brick award for Best Restaurant and Retail project.

​Picone Construction has begun interior renovations to the historic Rich Twinn Octagon House in Akron, NY. Work to the facility includes selective demolition, along with painting, plaster repair and carpet replacement.
The house originally was built by Charles Rich in the early 1850’s as his primary residence which also housed two other families. Eventually the house was purchased by the Newstead Historical Society and turned into a house museum.

​Picone Construction has begun work for Kenmore Mercy Hospital, providing two new exterior emergency generators as well as associated generator controls. Also installed was an underground diesel fuel tank and fuel oil tank to supplement the power of the generator.

Picone Construction has just completed the interior renovations for the Elba Central School District. Extensive renovations to the project included sitework, paving, roof reconstruction, window replacement, HVAC, plumbing fixture replacement and upgrades to finishes.

Picone Construction has begun renovations to the Italian Heritage Center, located at the corner of Delaware Ave. and Hertel Ave. in Buffalo, NY. The building for the center has been donated by the City of Buffalo and most of the labor for the Center is being performed by its members, including leadership from Anthony Picone, CEO of Picone Construction and Rocco Termini of Signature Development.
Most of the work that Picone Construction is performed include carpentry, trim, millwork, doors, framing and hardware.
“It will be powerful to see a space transform again into the neighborhood’s anchor, making cultural magic come to life all under one run,” said Board President, Dr. Francesco Giacobbe.
“We’re more than happy to be a part of this project,” said Picone. “As a family company with direct ties to Italy and the City of Buffalo, there are few projects that would have more of a personal impact than this one.”

ConstrucTech recently published an article highlighting our work at Roswell Park Cancer Institute during the COVID-19 pandemic. Work to the facility included the demolition of an old locker room to create two new operating rooms, renovation of two rooms for conferencing and viewing, extensive revisions to HVAC and plumbing systems, Corian wainscot installed in operating rooms along with stainless steel cabinets. Portions of the work was performed in evenings and while nearby operating rooms were in service.
​Additionally, fourth and fifth floor renovation and relocation of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center labs included the installation of a new cold room, new workstations, flooring, ceilings, restrooms, locker rooms, HVAC, and bio-safety cabinets. In the IMCU (Intermediate Care Unit) the project measures 10,450-sq.ft. in total and includes 14 new IMCU rooms with private, dedicated toilet rooms, wardrobes, staff work rooms, equipment, and utility rooms, as well as decentralized nurses’ stations. Enhancements to the 8th floor include a new family conference room as well as nurse managers’ offices in the occupied “core” of the floor.

Picone Construction has completed the exterior shell work for the new 3500 square foot Wellnow Urgent Care facility located in Springville, NY. Major work performed included electrical, plumbing, masonry, roofing, concrete foundations, landscaping, flatwork, aluminum framed entrances and storefronts, carpentry, wood trusses, concrete reinforcing and fiberglass insulation.

Picone Construction has completed the new photo building at  CarMax  of Rochester, NY. The new building houses an automobile carousel that is used in tandem with an automatic photography system for consistent photographs of vehicles for sale.
Other major work on the new build includes electrical work, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection specialties, paving work, masonry, steel doors & frames, interior architectural millwork, painting, overhead coiling doors, concrete reinforcing, epoxy floor systems and epoxy flooring, sitework, thermoplastic membrane roofing, overhead high-speed fabric coiling door work, structural steel, insulation work, and carpentry.

We’re a family company, and that has never changed. Since our inception in 1930, our leadership has always been kept within the Picone family. Needless to say, family values run deep in our tradition.
With a Thanksgiving presenting itself this year as a holiday to count our blessings, this may come a bit more difficult than in year’s past. In a year that has draped itself in hardship, unemployment and the slowing of business as we adjust to the “new normal,” Picone Construction has found a way. Founded only a few years removed from the beginning of the Great Depression, our company has seen hard times and prevailed.
Luckily, we haven’t had to furlough any employees or make any layoffs. Although this year has been slower than in year’s past, we’ve managed to stay busy and keep building Western New York.
Through tragedy and triumph there are several things that remain consistent. Hold your loved ones tight, stay safe and cherish each day you have. Despite everything that 2020 has thrown our way, there are still reasons to be grateful. So, from our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving. 

Picone Construction has completed several different projects for Orleans/Niagara BOCES in Sanborn, NY. Perhaps most extensive of the work includes the replacement of the existing greenhouse on the campus with a new, pre-engineered one at the Niagara Area Center. Picone also replaced the locksets throughout the facility, the cast in place floor drains and the hot water heater.
Repairs were performed to the exterior foundation structure as well. Also replaced was the air compressor and associated plumbing and HVAC equipment in select locations, while site draining was provided at the bus loop and security gates, fencing was also installed. At the Niagara Academy, air conditioning was set up in select spaces in the facility, including ductwork modifications, ceiling replacement and lighting replacement.

Picone Construction Corp. has recently completed the renovations and addition to  Sisters of Charity Hospital pharmaceutical unit . ​The two-story addition was added on top of the 1st floor, expanding the pharmacy by approximately 1500 square feet while roughly 500 square feet of that existing pharmacy received extensive interior renovations. The two-story addition will be used to house the new pharmacy clean room and support spaces.
In addition to that work, another 500 square feet was added for the third-floor penthouse addition in order to store mechanical equipment to support the new second floor pharmacy expansion.
The architect of record was Kideney Architects, P.C. The structural engineer was Siracuse Engineers, P.C. and the mechanical and electrical engineer work was IBC Engineering, P.C.

​Picone Construction Corporation has been selected as the General Contractor to complete Sheridan Surgical’s front façade upgrades. The job includes a complete renovation of the front and sides of the building complete with adhered brick, cultured stone, new awnings and cement board siding. The architect of record is Sutton Architecture.
